Eliza and Sadie's Portrait Photo Shoot

Here is a little montage of the portrait photo shoot we took last month of the girls. It was Sadie's two year picture time. We also took some shots for this year's Christmas Cards.

Halloween Pictures

There is no doubt now that I am VERY behind with all the stuff I'd like to post but that I just don't seem to get around to. Here are some portraits of Eliza and Sadie in their Halloween Costumes. They were LaLa and Po from the PBS show, Teletubbies.

Good Toddler Times at Church

I just remembered this.... Last Sunday at Church, we were sitting in Sacrament Meeting. The girls kept talking out loud. I kept reminding them to whisper if they needed to talk. Eliza was good and switched to a whisper voice right away. Sadie, however, not so much... The meeting was quiet as they passed the Sacrament. , In a normal volume voice, Sadie says, "Shhhhh.... I am very quiet." I kept whispering to her to whisper and she would continue to reply, "Shhhh... I am very quiet." I had to hold back my laughter. Then she went on to announce what was going on... "The bread is coming... Here he is...The bread is coming..... Here's the bread...I want water. I thirsty...Here comes water...The water is coming.. Here water.... I spilled....Mommy, I all wet..."

Next Eliza needs to go potty. Sadie doesn't want to miss her chance to go out in the hall either. As soon as we get back from that, Sadie announces, "Mommy, Sadie need diaper change... Change Sadie's diaper..." She has already figured out how to get out of the meeting and into the hall. :) It cracks me up.

I am very proud of Sadie's verbal skills. It is only a disservice during Sacrament Meeting. I think if she talked in more of a babble instead of complete sentences, than she'd seem younger and it would seem okay that she was making so much noise. If she's old enough to talk like that, than I am afraid people would expect her to be able to whisper better. At least she is small and still has a very baby look to her. My sister, Molly, has a tall son. Similarly, she had a problem that people think he is older than he is because he is so tall, and they expect him to behave older.

Eliza's New Haircut

Eliza got a new haircut last week. I love it. I think she looks adorable with this short little cut.

I told Eliza to give me a big smile. She opened her mouth as wide as she could and mumbled out, "cheese." Good job, Lizie Pie. :)

My pre-schooler photographer also took this picture of me and Sadie. I just got a short haircut too. I wish I liked it as much as I like Eliza's. Its a disaster. I had some communication issues with the young lady who cut my hair. I should have been more clear as to what I had in mind. She made me nervous from the beginning because she clearly hated her job. She kept talking about how she hates this $%&@ place and how the cheerful girl working the counter ticks her off so much. Anyway... now I have crazy layers that I have no idea what to do with them. I am going to cut it again next Saturday to get it closer to one length. The problem with that is, my hair will be even shorter. I can only loose. At least it will grow back...eventually.

Pumpkin Patch

The family went to the pumpkin patch a few weeks ago when Grandma was here. In fact, we did lots of fun things when Grandma was here. The girls got to ride a pony! We took a hayride out to the pumpkin patch and picked out three pumpkins. When we got home Eliza drew a face on a pumpkin for Daddy to carve out. Daddy and Grandma also carved designs of their own. It was great.

Fun with Grandma

David's Mom came for a visit for two and a half weeks. It was great! She did so much for us while she was here. She sewed for us, which was great because I don't sew. Sewing is a useful skill that I wished I possessed. She took in some skirts and mended a dress for me. She sewed dress up clothes for the girls. In fact she brought a little dress up chest with her that was full of dress up clothes from the store and dress up clothes that she sewed herself. The girls LOVE playing dress up! Thanks, Grandma.

Park Pics

The ice cream man is quite savvy. He drove up to the playground at the Park and he just parked their for 15 minutes. The music played its alluring tune even during temporary lags in business, giving kids a chance to beg their parents for money, I guess. Eliza was happily playing when she noticed kids run for the truck. She insisted on getting ice cream too. We tried to stall her for awhile because we don't carry cash very often and the ice cream man doesn't take debit cards. Finally David came up with a dollar and Eliza took off toward the ice cream truck. She excitedly picked an ice cream treat from the menu posted on the side of the truck. How did she know just what to do when she had never before seen an ice cream truck? She gave the man her dollar and she and Sadie shared an ice cream sandwich.

We all remember the joy of getting a treat from the ice cream truck when we were kids. Its fun to have little ones to remind me of the little pleasures of life. I love to see their smiling faces when they are having fun and experiencing new things. Toddlers are the best!
