Baby's Gender Announcement

Well, I had my mid-pregnancy ultrasound today... IT'S A BOY!!!

I am so happy to finally know the baby's gender! I surprised myself a little at my feelings after Catherine, the ultrasound tech, told me it's a boy. I began to feel a little nervous. I mean, I have daughters.. they are like me. I don't really know about raising a son. Then I immediately tell myself that it will be fine, I mean, afterall, there are a lot of men around, all of which have mothers who learned to raise sons. See, I can be practical that way.
Here is the baby's profile. The black hole is his stomach. :)
On Monday our family is off on a little vaction. We are heading to The Great Wolf Lodge for a couple of nights. We planned it as a way to celebrate David's graduation and to go one last time before we have a newborn. Well, it turns out David is not graduating like we thought becasue he has a lot more work to do on his thesis apparently. Oh well! I have to say I'm not too sad that its too late to cancel! :)

The Great Wolf Lodge is located in Williamsburg. Prime Outlet Mall is also located in Williamsburg. I am excited to visit the Carter's Outlet and other baby stores while I am there. I am looking forward to shopping for some little boy stuff! I love little baby clothes and since I am having a new gender, I can more easily justify the expense! :)

I know you and David will love that little boy as much as you adore your girls!! Congrats! (One caveat: boys are much more active as toddlers than girls, in general)

Enjoy your vacation and may God bless you and keep ya'll safe!!!!

I am SO EXCITED to hear your news! Congrats!!!! I remember being quite worried about loving a boy, when I found out my third was a boy... I had the two girls, just like you, and had no idea what to do with a boy. But let me tell you, that little guy is just the best--so much fun! Yours will be your little pal! I'm glad everyone's well and healthy. Have fun at Great Wolf--that's one of our family's favorite places! We were just there a few months ago, pre-twins.

BTW... Ray delivered a baby yesterday while you were at the doctor and Melissa was VERY upset that it wasn't YOUR baby!

Boys are a bit easier than girls and they get easier as they age. They don't need all the frilly stuff (which is also a drawback- but it saves money). You can find the cutest stuff that is simple. You get to see the difference in boys and girls that just comes naturally. Like boys can make a gun out of ANYTHING!

I am soooooo excited for you.

A Little Man! I'm so excited for you and your sweet family!

GWL sounds like so much fun. One of my blogger-friends, in Kansas, video blogged their trip there.. too fun!

The best part of the video, for me, was the children's excitement as they entered their room!

Used Cars-The Value Choice

It was Bruce Springsteen who sang, ‘mister the day the lottery I win, I ain’t ever gonna ride in no used car again.’ I’m sure Bruce can afford loads of expensive new cars parked outside his Mansion but for the rest of us the economic sense of buying used is hard to escape.

Second hand cars are the only kind of cars I’m ever going to drive whether I win the lottery or not.

The main difference between buying a brand new car and a brand new used car apart from that famous new car smell is the amount of money that you will lose the second you drive it out of the dealer.

Some new cars can depreciate 50% in value as soon as you drive them away. The 80’s pop twins ‘Bros’ who had a short lived life in the spotlight lost a spectacular amount of money in their time and when they came to add it all up Matt Goss puts much of that down to buying several very expensive sports cars brand new and only keeping them a couple of months.

As well as the money the emotional strain of driving a brand new car into a multi-story car park for the first time must be massive. Every scratch and dink would become a huge dent in your mind.

Leaving a brand new car parked by the side of the road in a dark street must be quite hard to do as well. No one wants their car broken into or stolen but it must feel worse when it’s new. The cost of fully comp insurance on a new car is another factor that will make a difference.

Used cars and the option of replacing anything that breaks with decent spare parts is a much more comforting thought to me. It’s the whole idea that you don’t have to be so precious about your car when it’s seen a few miles that I like. With a new car you feel obliged to take it back to the dealer for all the servicing and repairs which of course can cost a fortune. You need the official stamps to keep the FSH value – but with an old used car you have so many more options.

For me it’s used cars that are best and that may say something about the person I am. Not a rock star and not a lottery winner.

Digital Memory sure is becoming cheaper these days. I'm curious as to when we will finally reach the ratio of $0.01 to 1 GB.

I'm quietly waiting for the day when I will finally be able to afford a 20 terabyte hard disk . But for now I will be satisfied with having a 32 gig Micro SD in my R4i.
