Horricane Irene

Last Saturday our home in Virginia was hit by Horricane Irene. My children aren't big into saying "hurricane;" they prefer "horricane." The horricane blew down lots and lots of trees and power lines. It was amazing to see the trees in our backyard blowing back and forth. Here is a picture of the major damamge at our house. Luckily, Super Levi came to my rescue and removed Horricane Irene's biggest piece of damage from on top of me. Here are some pictures of trees on power lines I took from my car.

I took some other pictures with my phone, but I need to figur out a way to resize them so that I can text them to myself.

We never lost power for longer than 5 seconds. That means we are in the 25% that never lost power in the Richmond area. While I am writing this we still have 50% of the region without power. We have been watching DVDs, because we just moved and have not had phone, cable or internet set up at our new house. We have some wonderful company at our house and they more than make up for no internet. We have been having a history marathon. First, we watched the conspirator. Now, we are almost halfway through the John Adams mini series from HBO. Anyone have Band of Brothers so we can borrow it?

When I got in the car this morning they were talking about another aftershock to the earthquake last week. Does it count as an aftershock if you can't even feel it when you are awake? By the way, my in-laws had foundation damage from the earthquake last week. Have I ever told you how I prefer earthquakes to hurricanes. You have to clean up after both, but you have to stress about hurricanes for a week ahead of time. Not cool.
